Three generations of the Kingsmill family of Sydmonton leased Sandleford between 1626 and circa 1715. It was mostly erected around the old priory buildings between 17 by James Wyatt, for Elizabeth Montagu. The present Sandleford Priory is a Grade I listed building in 54 acres (22 ha) of Grade II listed parkland landscaped by Capability Brown. This was subsequently much extended and elaborated by a later resident, Mrs. They leased it out as a farm to various tenants before the Kingsmill family from Sydmonton Court converted it into a country house.
